At the parking lot of the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve on Espola Rd in Poway. bathroom on the lot.
Trail starts out flat (20 minutes), then rises gently, then steeper to the dam. From there we visit an avocado grove before we return. Easy to moderate!

One to two hours, you can go back any time!

From I-15 take the Rancho Bernardo exit (east), it becomes Espola Rd. Go several miles, look for the Blue Sky parking lot on your left (after Westling, Old Coach/ Bridlewood) around where Espola turns south.
Park wherever you can, the trail head is at the end of the lot.
Bring money for a cold drink at the Park, in case we decide to drive to Lake Poway after the hike, to the concession stand, (including beer). We'll drink it on the shady hill, overlooking the lake.
